Team LMT is an amateur cycling team, founded by Lucy Monro in 2013. Originally named Team SWR, after one of the magazines that she edited and published, it was renamed following Lucy’s death in 2015, to honour her legacy and draw awareness to the Lucy Monro Memorial Trust (LMMT). Based in Dubai, but with members around the world, it comprises riders of varied nationalities and abilities and has a competitive, but inclusive style.
In October 2015, 11 riders from Team LMT undertook a Cent Cols Challenge in France, partly as a memorial ride and also to raise funds for LMMT. The ride, named simply ‘Lucy’s Cent Cols’ involved climbing 100 mountain passes or cols, in ten days. It was a huge challenge, covering 65% of the distance and 100% of the cumulative climbing of a Tour de France, but in less than half the time.
It was the first time that a Cent Cols Challenge had been ridden by a team and it was also the inaugural Cent Cols event in this particular region of France – the Cevennes.
Today, Team LMT rides on in Lucy’s honour, with a local core of active members based in Dubai and past riders now dispersed around the world, but still proudly wearing the LMT jersey. If you see us out on the road, please say hello! All enquiries to Lucy’s brother Guy at guy@sirguylitespeed.com.
